I was born in 1953 in Lawrence, Kansas,
in the good old US of A,
about five time zones shy of April Fool's.
Carted from stem to stern in my formative
years, I severed the umbilical at 19 and
settled in the Phila area.

where I learned to cut and paste,

Williamstown, Massachusetts,
where I learned to swim,
ice skate,
play recorder,
pitch cow pies on a farm
in the shade of Mt Greylock,
Middlebury, Vermont,
where I learned
to ski,
play badminton,
chess,
piano,
trombone,
appreciate
kingston trio,
edith piaf,
the beatles,
jimmy yancey,
jack teagarden,
bob dylan
on highway 61 revisited,
Wichita, Kansas,
where I started playing
volleyball,
discovered frank zappa,
johnny winter,
robert johnson,
paul butterfield,
woody guthrie,

where I yearned for a mandolin
but settled for an old cracked bit of
italian woodcarving,
scarborough beach, rhode island,
where I spent the summer of 1967 with family,
