The Cottage on Fernwood Point, Lake Sunapee, NH
My father's parents, Bernard Bradley Butler and Beulah Belle Benton Butler, owned a house on Fernwood Point, Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire, which they modestly called "The Cottage."
Photos are all from the 1980s, I think, mostly from 1988 after Bernard died. The cottage was soon sold to long-time neighbors the Nichols. Other neighbors I remember on the circle at the end of the point were Selma __(?), the Coonleys, the Prevos (Jimmy was my age), the Leanders, and the Danes. Further up the point I remember the Lamberts, whose son Louie was my age. My grandfather took me skiing behind his little motorboat with a paltry, 25-horsepower, outboard motor. Louie used to say that his dad had the "biggest *privately*owned* boat on the lake." Granddaddy told Louie that the large, circular thermometer he had mounted outside the dining room window was the "biggest *privately*owned* thermometer on the lake."
