John's Parents and Grandparents

John's parents were Bernard Bradley Butler and Beulah Belle Benton Butler. Bernard and Beulah had the same birth date, a year apart. Beulah was born September 7, 1898, and Bernard in 1899. Beulah died January 1, 1977, at age 78. Bernard died January 31, 1988, at age 88. They married on November 30, 1922.

Bernard's parents were John Francis Butler and Etta (Ettie) Adele Bradley Butler (1862 - 1942).

Beulah's parents were Nolton E. Benton (1858 - 1939) and Eva Mae Fuller (1867 - 1954).

After their marriage on November 30, 1922, Bernard and Beulah lived in Beulah's apartment on Long Island, in Rockville Centre, New York, for 2 or 3 months. Next they shared a furnished bungalow with newlyweds, Bill and Ferell Gallagher, at 70 Cedar Street in Rockville Centre for 6 or 7 months. They then rented an unfurnished bungalow at 24 Hays St in Baldwin Harbor, where they lived for three years. In 1926, they moved to an apartment building in Garden City, where they lived for 15 months. When Bill was 2 years old (1931 or early 1932), they were living in a ground floor apartment in Rockville Centre. When Tom was 2 years old (1937 or early 1938), they were living at 27 DeMott Place in Rockville Centre. In January of 1939, they moved to Newport, New Hampshire, renting a house at 75 Cheney Street before buying a house at 130 Laurel Street.
