Bernard's mother was Etta (Ettie) Adele Bradley Butler. Her parents were Adeline Manchester and Truman Galucia Bradley. Truman's parents were Lucius and Mary Bradley.

Beulah's parents were Nolton E. Benton and Eva Mae Fuller. The Fuller family antecedents were named Fournier before that name was Anglicized as Fuller. Eva Mae's father was John Baptist Fournier, who was born in Sainte-Marie-de-Monnoir, Quebec, and changed his name to Fuller.
