Until 1961, Flo and John lived in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where John had a 2-year assignment as Visiting Assistant Professor at Williams College.
In 1961, the family moved to Middlebury, Vermont, where John began teaching as a Lecturer at Middlebury College. John became Middlebury's Director of Freshman English in 1965.
In 1966, the family moved to Wichita, Kansas, where John taught for four years as Associate Professor and Director of Freshman-Sophomore English at Wichita State University. Here Flo installed the second of her home laboratories, and continued her consulting work for Technic.
