Flo and John continued to live on Walter Carey Road in Smithfield through the 1990s. By the time she retired from Technic in 1994 (after 44 years), Flo was the vice president and director of chemical research.
For many years, Flo volunteered for RI Audubon and The Nature Conservancy helping fix and build things at their nature centers and reserves. She spent many hours paddling her kayak around streams in Rhode Island gathering data for a statewide dragonfly study.
John died 11-Sep-1998 at the age of 71.
