Brassua Lake, Maine

In the summer of 2004, Flo and David drove to Maine to visit family, and the two of them spent a few days at Brassua Lake, in the house known as the "Liar's Den" which had been Leo's "camp" — a fishing and hunting retreat which passed to Betty and Stan after Leo's death at age 90.

Flo and David found a convenient boat-launching spot to the west of the camp, just off the main road, where David put Flo's kayak in the water and floated around while Flo checked out the plant life on the shore. A peaceful spot with no humans in sight, and barely a sound except for the occasional truck roaring past.
